Anantha Australia seeks to work towards a just and fair society, in which we involuntarily serve those in more need or more vulnerable than us, through activities that bridge gaps in:
This will be in the form of skill development, STEM activities that prompt curiosity, mentoring and youth development workshops.
Our activities will aim to connect volunteers with opportunities to serve selflessly, centred around the Bhagavad Gita’s discussion on moral and ethical dilemmas, challenges and freedom of choice in serving others. There is never a, “Right time to give back to society”- if there is one, it is now.
Our health is influenced by our lifestyle, our sense of social cohesion, our satisfaction with our professional life and happiness in our personal life. A balance of physical, emotional and spiritual health is essential for the mind and body to be in sync and for a quality of life that enables us to achieve our potential. Yoga, Meditation, Community awareness and information sessions will be a key focus.
Our activities will aim to protect and preserve our environmental inheritance, with a view to helping Australia progress on the national sustainable development strategy. As per Vedic scriptures Ether, air, fire, water, earth and all that is contained in them (including directions, rivers and seas) are part and parcel of the supreme consciousness and revered as Pancha (Five) Mahabhuta (Elements) - they are to be treated with the same respect and compassion as we would treat ourselves.
Karagare Vasathe Lakshmi; Kar madhey Saraswati Karamooley tu govinda; prabhaate karadarshanam Samudra vasane devi; parvatasthana mandaley Vishnupatni namasthumbyam; padasparsham kshmasvamey (Vishnu Purana)
Oh, All-Loving Mother Earth, who has the oceans as her abode and mountains as her breasts; The divine partner of Lord Vishnu, who is the master of the Universe, I bow to you with all my sincerity; Please bless me and forgive me for touching you with my feet.
Food pyramids discount and disregard the ability of non-human life forms to feel emotions. As per Vedic scriptures, all living entities are intrinsically divine because the soul (Atma) that resides in every living entity is part and parcel of divinity. So, all life is sacred, to be loved and revered with practice of non-injury and non-violence (Ahimsa) in thought, word and deed towards other life forms. Our activities will involve education, volunteering, activism and enabling a deeper understanding of and commitment towards vegetarianism and compassion for all. Vegetarianism connects directly with all key values and beliefs that underpin Anantha Australia’s concerns about care of the earth, her biodiversity and climate change. Going vegetarian can do so much good in helping revive soil. It can also help in purifying the air, healing our habitat and in harmonising the system. And it is cruelty free to the visible eye.
In the words of J. Krishnamurthy, “Nature is part of our life. We grew out of the seed, the earth, and we are part of all that, but we are rapidly losing the sense that we are animals like the others. Can you have a feeling for a tree, look at it, see the beauty of it, listen to the sound it makes? Can you be sensitive to the little plant, a little weed, to that creeper growing up the wall, to the light on the leaves and the many shadows? One must be aware of all this and have that sense of communion with nature around you”
